Membership Procedures
Proposing New Members
If a member wishes to propose a head of school for membership, she/he should contact the Executive Director and try to secure a second nominator for the candidate. The Executive Director will need a current CV/resume and verification that the nominee’s school is an “eligible” school. When the application is complete, the Executive Director will present the nominee to the Board of Directors for approval.
Change of Status for a member
The Board requests that a current Active Member who is retiring, changing schools, or resigning please follow the procedure below.
Notify the Executive Director of any change of membership status. Since membership is granted to individuals not schools, members who are moving to a new school as head of school retain Active Member status.
It is hoped that those Active Members leaving the role of headship will choose to remain with The 1911 Group as Associate Members.
Nominating your Successor
When you leave your present school, please strongly consider nominating your successor for membership in The 1911 Group, assuming she/he is not currently a member. It might be helpful to share with your successor content of past conference programs and dates of the annual conference as well as other benefits of membership you have enjoyed and appreciated.
Please encourage your successor to visit The 1911 Group website for details of the history of the organization, details of past conference programs, and a list of current members.
